My name is Michael Ruskin, writer, researcher, and author of the book The Vow: A Love Story and the Holocaust which is biography of my late parents, David and Dora Ruskin who were Holocaust survivors from Lithuania. In my book I describe their early lives together and their special bond during the Nazi occupation of Lithuania (1941-1945) where tragically nearly 97% of the country's Jewish population were murdered. (This horrific statistic reflects the highest percentage of Jewish deaths by country in Europe during World War II.) Considering the odds of their survival, one can only conclude it was only through their unwavering love for each other, their faith in God and unshakeable courage which made the difference between life and death. They truly exemplified the strength of the human spirit and the power love which is instilled in all of us by our Creator.
