As a licensed professional counselor, I love talking with parents about how to raise their children to be emotionally healthy adults.

Dr. Beth has spent her whole life working with kids. If you want to find her in a group, you can find her teaching students at Colorado Christian University because she loves the enthusiasm of students and their provocative discussions. Working with kids, she’ll be listening to the story of a traumatized child at the Texas Girls and Boys Ranch or explaining the process of foster care or adoption to an anxious parent. Occasionally you will find Dr. Beth on the witness stand providing an expert opinion about a traumatized child. Every chance Dr. Beth gets to leave the country, you will find her working in international orphanages where she is part of a group who are training caregivers how to work with traumatized children. Clearly, Dr. Beth doesn’t like boredom. She loves children and has committed her time and energy to making sure they stay safe. She loves playing with children. Watching children engage in activities. She even loves reading research about how to help children. Anything having to do with children, and Beth is there. About Dr. Beth’s titles, training, and credentials: She is a Professor of Counseling at Colorado Christian University, a visiting lecturer in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at Harding University and was previously a Professor of Pediatrics at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. She is a licensed professional counselor, an approved supervisor for licensed professional counselors, and a certified school counselor. She has used those credentials to work with abused and traumatized children for more than 25 years as a counselor. Dr. Beth has also lived with foster and adoptive children in her own home and written books for professionals, parents and children. Her two most recent books were co-authored with Dr. Latayne Scott. These books are Talking with Teens about Sexuality: Critical Conversations about Social Media, Gender Identity, Same-Sex Attraction, Pornography, Purity, Dating, Etc. and Protecting your Child from Predators: How to Recognize and Respond to Sexual Danger.
